However, on the recording, I hear it every. I must have been standing on a loose floorboard because each recording was punctuated with annoying creaks and squeaks as my weight shifted from one foot to the other. I thought I did a pretty good job with it all, but when I listened back to my shaker track, I realized I’d made a mistake. That was until I recorded acoustic percussion for a ten-track album. I used to wonder why anyone would bother with them when recorded acoustic drums usually sound better and when Logic’s range of MIDI drum options is already pretty extensive (for programming and triggering with an electric kit). But, up until this year, I’d been pretty skeptical about drum libraries like EZDrummer. (4) Are the Steps/Hits/Accent/Shift parameters automate-able? What about the Envelope/Glitch/Filter/LFO/ etc.I’ve been producing music for a while. Can I still select "B0" for my kick track and "F5" for my ride cymbal track using these libraries, as above? (3) In the Electro-Acoustic "Euclidean Beats," "Poly Beats" and "Beat Shifter" videos, I see no MIDI note names, just labels like "kick" and "snare." Same with the Samulnori Percussion library. So, if the bass drum in the SD3 kit that I've loaded onto a different Cubase track happens to be mapped to "B0" and the ride cymbal is "F5", I can select those notes for the first two tracks, and they will trigger, respectively, the bass drum and ride cymbal in SD3? Will "B0" and "F5" appear in the exported MIDI file, or will I have to do any re-mapping of the exported MIDI file, to get it to work on my SD3 track? (2) In Box of Tricks and Konkrete, you can select an 'input' note for each track (choosing which sound you want to be triggered). (1) Does (or, at least, can) the tempo of the patterns produced by "Euclidean Beats," "Poly Beats" and "Beat Shifter" match the project's tempo? I used a Kontakt instrument with a built-in arpeggiator to drive another (non-Kontakt) instrument on a different Cubase project track. ?Īny advice, experiential notes, warnings, etc., would be greatly appreciated!! unless the SC libraries let the user specify which MIDI note gets assigned to each exported track. Is that a correct assumption?Įven so, re-mapping the exported MIDI pattern to my VSTi-of-choice could prove to be quite a bit of work. I see that the 'Euclidean' SC libraries have a 'MIDI drag-and-drop' feature, and I assume that I could (1) work with the drum machine sounds long enough to find a pattern that I like, (2) export the MIDI pattern to a Cubase track, and then (3) use those MIDI notes in Cubase to 'play' some other instrument. If not, does anyone else make a comparable "Euclidean Beat" generator that lets you decide what to trigger with it? wav file of my choice to each track.ĭo any of the several Soniccouture libraries that feature any of the above beat generators allow you to trigger 'external' sounds that didn't come with the library? or 'play' whatever other Kontakt instruments I wanted. I'd love it if those three sequencers/pattern-generators were available in a standalone GUI that could trigger drum samples in Superior Drummer 3 kits. I'm very interested in the "Euclidean Beats," "Poly Beats" and "Beat Shifter" sequencers featured in Soniccouture's "Electro-Acoustic" library, but I have near-zero interest in the drum machine sounds used in that library.
